You nailed it. I still think Cheney influenced this though! If not actively this time but because of his machinations in the CIA when he was in office. He infected the agency, and a lot of the people who had allegiance, or worse, were being manipulated by him, are still in the CIA. I think some of those that could have connected those dots, didn't, possibly, on purpose. Remember Valerie Plame too!

Musing Mary Ann comments on I Debate Racial Profiling in Terrorism Cases Tonight on MSNBC.

Dear Mr. Rice,

Racial profiling is indeed unacceptable. As I commented on my blog, once security includes additional variables aside from race, then it is no longer racial profiling. Any Muslim/Middle Eastern man who is travelling alone, pays cash for their ticket and has no luggage should be given a detailed search. When race/ethnicity is not the only variable, it can no longer be considered racial profiling. Problem solved.

DaveH comments on [Media Appearance] Wednesday, December 30th: Talk on Terrorist Attack

Saw the CNN broadcast this morning and was wondering, "if all the info had come together and the panties bomber had been identified as a risk months ago, what would the US have done?" What good does a no fly list do? My other son and I picked up my older son on the West Coast and, for each of two flights, one north, the other back home going east, my older son was stopped on both occasions, in addition to previously being stopped for the ridiculous total search of his effects. My loud comment to these idiots was that a committed, real terrorist could easily foil the pathetic security at any major airport.

On one of the occasions for which my older son was stopped, my other son and I were also treated to this show search. My nail clippers were extracted from my dopp kit and handled by the knucklehead security officer as though they were explosive; he almost ran off to his supervisor, the clippers held in front of his body at full arm's length. When he returned with his supervisor, she informed me that the clippers were dangerous; I laughed. She said that I couldn't take the clippers on board the aircraft, but that she could mail them back to me; I declined, saying that she could keep them and, also, where she could put them.

I told my sons, again in a loud voice, when we were allowed to proceed, "If you don't check for absolutely everything, you might as check for nothing. This show search nonsense is the dog-and-pony show for the know-nothing general public, comforted by a bunch of lame, ineffective security personnel."

steve sundberg comments on I Appear on MSNBC All Day Tomorrow.

Jack, don't forget about the Yemen connection, too.
